2020 was a turbulent year for most. It was not a happy new year at all. It did start off as a happy new year and then nose dived into an awful year. Surprisingly, it was a decent year for me! If you talk about 2020 in general, it was a dismal year. What about the positive aspects of 2020? I don't want discuss the negative aspects at all. That's best documented elsewhere. I want touch on the positive aspects of 2020.
What were the good things that happened in 2020? Well, there were some good music albums this year. You can say that. The L.A. Lakers became NBA champions this year. People met new friends online and they did achieve some personal accomplishments. People who probably always wanted to work at home finally got to work at home this year due to the pandemic. I don't know what else... wow! 2020 did truly suck!
I have to say it... thankfully today is the final day of 2020! I hope 2021 is much more prosperous and things will get better. 2020 was an odd year and it will go down in history as an odd year & more!
Well it has been five years since Lemmy Kilmister died and you might have expected me to write some depressing stuff. No! You're wrong! Since it has been five years since he passed away, I will post my top five favorite songs with Lemmy.
5. The Rockin' Vickers - Dandy
Here's a song from Lemmy's early days as a musician. He played guitar for The Rockin' Vickers. He was a damn good guitarist. I consider this song to be a gem of the 1960's. He rocks on this song. Check it out! EDIT: I originally had I Go Ape and then found out Lemmy is not on that song. I Go Ape is awesome, but he wasn't in The Rockin' Vickers at the time that song was recorded & released.
4. Motörhead - Ace of Spades
I know, I know, you must be thinking why would I have this at number 4? Well it is one of his most famous songs, yet I feel it deserves to be in my top 5. It's got fantastic bass work and Lemmy sounds absolutely awesome on vocals. It's a great song period. Don't know this one? You must have been living under a rock for years or you simply have bad taste in music. Or you most likely suck! And ya probably do! Whatever! Listen to it now if you haven't and I won't think you suck. :)
3. Motörhead - R.A.M.O.N.E.S.
Fast, wild and fun! It's about the legendary band the Ramones. Ramones even covered this one. Excellent stuff! Listen to this if you haven't! This song almost didn't make it to my top 5 Lemmy songs. I almost went with Jack the Ripper or Going to Brazil!
2. Hawkwind - Motorhead
I'll be honest here, this is 10 times better than the one by Motörhead. Oh I like the one by Motörhead, it doesn't suck by any means. This one has better vocals and bass by Lemmy. It's a wee bit underrated nowadays. I'm sure people still listen to this version.
1. Motörhead - Built for Speed
It was a bit difficult for me to choose number one. Other candidates were Motörhead - Jack the Ripper, Motörhead - Stone Dead Forever, Motörhead - Too Late Too Late, Motörhead - Victory and surprisingly Hawkwind - Silver Machine! Well this is it, Motörhead - Built for Speed. A bit of a deep track by Motörhead. This is one amazing heavy metal song! I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you never listened to this one. I'll cut ya some slack with this one! However, no excuse for you not knowing Motörhead - Ace of Spades! I mean, c'mon!
There you have it! My top 5 songs by Lemmy! What an awesome dude and his music will live on forever! Rock on, Lemmy!
Today Lemmy Kilmister would have been 75 years old. Happy birthday God! People still listen to your music to this day. It's unfortunate that he died 4 days after his 70th birthday. I remember my partner from the late 2000's saying Lemmy was going to be rocking in his 70's. We thought he would live a long time. If Lemmy never got ultra sick, he would be still alive today.
Not a major update at all, I'll still discuss the stuff I normally discuss on here. I experimented with the colors. I'm now 100% satisfied with the way it is now. I actually like the colors here more than colors I have on my Tumblr! I was gonna try to make this blog look more like my Tumblr. However, I have something significantly better going on here.
Today's blog entry is about a couple of thrash metal bands from Costa Rica. Usually, I find most metal bands from Latin American countries to be terrible (especially metal bands from Chile, Honduras and Mexico). I have found out that Costa Rica has a good thrash metal scene. Today I'll shed some light on two thrash bands from Costa Rica, Epidemik and Heavy Chains.
Not too much is know about this thrash metal band who hail from Cortago, Costa Rica. They only have one EP which is called Murder by Command. It's pretty solid, if you don't mind lousy sound production. I think they have great potential. I hope they release more music. For the EP and hopefully more albums, go to their Bandcamp.
Next we have Heavy Chains. Heavy Chains is more established than the band above. They are from Heredia. They are slightly better as well and have professionally produced releases. They have the EP Deathstalker and full-length album Eye Commander. I highly recommend this band. For their music, check out their Bandcamp.
Check those two bands out now! I'll probably have blog posts about more metal bands from other countries in the near future. My next blogs are going to be about 2020 and my thoughts on 2021. That's if I remember... we'll see!
Tommy "Tiny" Lister (aka Deebo) has died at the age of 62. I'm devastated by this one. He was an awesome actor. He was also a wrestler in the WWE over 30 years ago. I will miss him. My condolences to his family, friends and everyone else affected. For more info, click here.
I am sad to report that Sean Malone has died. For those who don't know, he was the bassist in the progressive rock/metal band Cynic. He primarily played fretless bass guitar and Chapman stick. Additionally, he also played piano, keyboards and guitar. He was a talented multi-instrumentalist and he will be missed. Earlier this year, Sean Reinert died. I can't believe both of these progressive rock/metal musicians died in the same year. My condolences to Sean Malone's family, friends and everyone else affected by his death. For more on his death, click here.
