Happy Halloween and R.I.P. Sean Connery

Happy Halloween!  It may come as a surprise to many of you, but Halloween is not one of my favorite holidays.  That's strange, right?  I like death metal and stuff like that, but Halloween isn't one of my favorite holidays.  I know a few of my friends absolutely love this holiday.  To me, it's a cool holiday and nothing more.  That's pretty much it.  I have nothing against it at all.   It wasn't even my favorite holiday growing up!  So I don't have any Halloween stories or anything for you.  I remember trick or treating growing up, but nothing really special or memorable comes to mind.  I sadly don't remember any stories from back then.  In case if I do remember stories, I'll edit this and include them or I'll tell them next year.

Unfortunately, a death occurred today.  Sean Connery died, he was 90 years old.  Well at least he lived a full life.  You can read about it here for more on his death.

Not sure what else to write here.  That's it for this blog entry.  Happy Halloween!  Stay safe out there and have an excellent day/night!

The Los Angeles Lakers win the 2020 NBA Championship!

Congrats to the Los Angeles Lakers for winning the 2020 NBA championship!  They did this for Kobe Bryant and GiGi!  The Lakers have won their 17th NBA championship, which means they are tied with the Boston Celtics for most NBA championships!  They also haven't won one since 2010, it took them 10 years to win another!  Way to go!  Lebron James won his 4th championship and I hope he goes on to win more!  He earned it, he is an incredible basketball player!

Well this is the best news for 2020.  2020 has been a drag and then this happens!  My favorite NBA team wins!  Wherever you are Black Mamba, I'm sure you're proud of them!  I believe if Kobe didn't pass away this year, the Lakers still would have won it due to them being an excellent team with Lebron!  I'm so happy about this!  It has been an excellent year for us fans of the Lakers!  I hope they win their 18th NBA championship next season and they will no longer be tied with the Celtics with most NBA championships!  We shall see what happens with the next season!

Happy National Coming Out Day!

Happy National Coming Out Day!  I mentioned in an earlier blog entry that I'd tell my story of coming out.  For those of you who know me, you know for a fact that I'm gay.  This is not news at all to you.  Most of you probably don't know the story of how I came out.

The story goes back to about August 2007.  I started to notice that I had a sexual attraction to the same sex.  In a way, I came out to myself at that point in time and nobody else knew until a few months later.  On March 23, 2008, I came out to my first partner (who I'm sadly no longer with today).  We were both ecstatic that day.  He was the only one I came out to and that was the day we decided to become partners.

October 5th, 2008 was the day I came out to everyone.  It was an easy decision and I had no real issues without it.  However, I remember pacing around my basement thinking about it and I was a bit nervous about it.  I remember being on the phone with my partner and I was telling him about myself coming out.  I think I wanted advice from him, because I know he came out around late October or early November of 2006.  The first person I came out to was my mom.  She was watching TV in the family room.  At first, she didn't believe me at all.  She actually refused to believe I was gay for a few years, she didn't accept me being gay until around 2014 or so.  I was disappointed by her reaction and my partner was disappointed as well.  At least nowadays, my mom accepts the fact that I'm gay.  Sometimes she thinks I'm bisexual or even pansexual, but I remind her that I'm gay.  I'm most comfortable with the gay label.

When I was going for group therapy (I wasn't there due to my homosexuality, it was for another reason) in 2008, I came out to the group and it occurred one day in October 2008.  It felt good coming out to them and they had no problem with it at all.  For most people I came across in my life, they do not have a problem with me being gay.  There were a 2-3 people online that did have a problem with my homosexuality, but I will not get into that.

I hope you all having a good National Coming Out Day!  For those struggling with coming out, you don't have to do it right away.  Take all the time you need and I'm sure things will turn out fine for you in the long run.  For me coming out was not a real difficult matter.

R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen

Rest in peace, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen.  I cannot believe he died today.  As a guitarist myself, he was a bit of an influence.  He got me more into tapping (a guitar technique he was famous for and you can see him doing it in the picture I provide).  I remember I learned how to play a couple of Van Halen songs during my first years of playing guitar.

I was around 5 or 6 years old when I first heard Eddie Van Halen, he did a guitar solo on "Beat It" and it totally blew me away the first time I gave it a good listen.  I was in my room back in Pomona, NY.  From that point on, I wanted to know what that was.  I was a very young child at the time and I couldn't really comprehend it that well.  Click here for an article on EVH's guitar solo on that song.  It was one of the most amazing things I ever listened to in my life at that point in time.  I believe it got me hard rock and heavy metal.  I am sure that was the song that was responsible for me loving heavy music.

2020 has been a rough & tough year.  This 2020 death has affected me, just like Kobe Bryant's earlier this year.  I hope the 2020's get better... this year has been a total dumpster fire.  I can't believe this year has been so horrible.  We're not even done with the year yet and EVH dies today.  :(  My condolences to the Van Halen family, friends, fans and anybody else.
